Description

Saffron Walden Golf Club is home to one of the finest parkland golf courses in East Anglia. Set in the picturesque surroundings of Audley End’s famous mansion, the Club also boasts superb views over the town of Saffron Walden. The course, whilst being average in length, is one that is far superior to average in many other ways. There are numerous changes in elevation, deceptive slopes and many cunningly placed trees. The greens, which look easy, are far from it – just remember a basic rule of thumb: the greens slope towards the Slade at the far end of the course.

The course is just one of the great facilities on offer at the Club. Others include:

• Fully licensed Bar, with ability to accommodate large external functions.
• Reasonably priced, homemade food served daily by our in-house caterers and waiting staff.
• Dining room, with seating capacity of 140.
• Golf lessons.
• Clubhouse open 363 days a year.
• Pro Shop open 364 days a year.

In conjunction with the above we have a recently renovated practice range which is fully covered with Huxley Turf - the best artificial surface to hit golf balls from. There are distance markers for the full distance of the range, as well as practice flags to aim at. There is a small practice bunker to tidy up your short bunker shots, together with 2 driving nets to make sure you are in the swing before your round

We also have a practice putting green, together with a small chipping area. This area is in the process of being redeveloped to create a unique short game area to rival other clubs in the area - it will include a brand new large putting green, new bunker area and a chipping green to ensure your touch is right before your round. Updates on the progress of this development will be made regularly.
